Tarsiers are squirrel-sized primates found in rainforests and other forest habitats in Southeast Asia. These nocturnal animals have large eyes, powerful hind legs and long, thin fingers. They are experts at leaping through the trees in search of their insect prey.

The Mojave desert tortoise is found in the United States’ Mojave Desert, as well as in other dry habitats in the southwestern United States. This rare reptile is seldom seen due to its burrowing lifestyle and the fact that it hibernates for up to nine months of the year.
As a result of habitat loss this desert reptile is becoming scarce. Its conservation status has been Vulnerable since the ‘80’s.

The meerkat is a carnivorous mammal found in deserts and other dry habitats in southern Africa.
This social animal lives in groups of 20 to 50 individuals. Mongooses forage together, use teamwork to repel predators, and are often seen grooming one another. They will even tend to an injured member of the colony.
While the group is outside, one or more meerkats will act as a sentry, keeping a look out for approaching danger. The sentry will use a different alarm call depending on whether the threat is a land-based or an aerial predator.
